Parma Heights History

Parma Heights was a part of the Township of Parma until 1911. The area was first settled in 1818 and originally incorporated in the year 1912. According to some, it was named after Parma in New York. Some also believed that the place derived its name from Parma in Italy. In its early days Parma Heights was a farming community. However, a few country inns and commercial establishments also existed. In 1959, Parma Heights was reincorporated as a city.
